Course Date: 30th June - 6th July 2024 (7 days), SLOVAKIA 

Course Venue: A picturesque hotel in the heart of the High Tatras, SLOVAKIA with the possibility of wellness

Meals and snacks: provided at the hotel's premises

The course is designed for:

Course content:

• How to start with simple research-oriented teaching in teaching STEM subjects

• Presentation of STEM-related portals

• Presentation of the collection of projects on the topic of STEM teaching and their possibilities of modification for the CLIL method

• Preparation and development of ILSs  (Inquire-learning spaces) using remote laboratories and simulations.

• Sharing ILS-created spaces in the role of  pupils and teachers with CLIL use

• Introduction of suitable applications to ensure the evaluation of the data of the measured values

• how to use the hypothesis method

Course methods: 

• Participants will actively work in virtual lab environment, where they will acquire the basics of ILSs creation with professional counseling

• Participants will create their own educational materials according to their teaching field with the intention to use them in lessons

• Participants will actively create the first ILSs for teaching STEM subjects

• Participants will actively process acquired knowledge into teaching materials directly applicable to their lessons

Course confirmation: 

  • The participant will be granted a certificate of active participation together with a guaranteed number of hours
  • Participants will receive a certificate of competences in the European Mobility Passport
  • If necessary, will be translated into English


Course Programe:

Sunday: 

Presentation and introduction to the course • Welcome and opening the course • Practical information about the course • Knowing the course participants • Individual approvals of the course participants and the profile of their training • The extent of application of the acquired knowledge in their approvals.

Monday: 

Introduction to STEM-oriented teaching • Good practice examples • Analysis of the implementation of such aspects on STEM lessons and their inclusion in the CLIL language teaching method • Presentation of remote laboratories and simulations • Discussion and individual interview • Benefits of these portals in teaching at school.

Tuesday: 

Presentation of the teaching methods implemented in this way • Aspects of good practice examples • Model situation of inclusion of such a subject in the subject curriculum and the use of interdisciplinary relationships • Practical creation of ILS • Discussion and individual interview • Aspect of sharing ILS created in the international community of teachers www.graasp.eu

Wednesday: 

Presentation of the SCIENTIX program • Demonstration of good practice and usage examples • Practical steps for creating new and adapting already created ILSs  • Working on ILSs using STEM lessons • Analysis of ILS applicability also on CLIL language classes in a wide range of learning • Self- educational possibilities of the program and its use in the teacher's professional career • Discussion and individual interview • Modifiability of such ILSs in different lessons.

Thursday: 

Presentation of the program www.edu-arctic.eu • Good tips for using this program in education and training with experts • Active participation in videoconference with a professional and practical experience with this portal • Usability of this portal for the needs of implementation in the classrooms.

Friday: 

Presentation of the collection of ILSs created and their possibilities of sharing among course participants • Practical hand-on activities focused on the individual needs of ILS creation • Possibilities of further professional growth through European Schoolnet Academy courses in STEM education.

Saturday: 

How to handle STEM training in the CLIL method for the versatile development of the pupil as an expert and directing his / her education to the specialized majors • Reflecting the requirements of the lack of professionally trained graduates for the needs of the practice according to the type of class and the type of school • Presentation of the structures created by the participants and their evaluation • Good advice from others course participants • Final product in the form of material for lessons • Course evaluation, certificate handing and farewell • Free discussion and friendly exchange of impressions and impressions
